Mom & Popism
Gawker Artists teamed up with husband and wife Photographers James and Karla Murray to bring their book "Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York" to life on the rooftop of Gawker offices in SOHO. The Photographs were printed large scale and installed like shrunken NYC street blocks. Curated by Artist: Billi Kid, I was among 28 street and graffiti artists to visually reinterpret the photos documenting an era in New York that seemed to be dissolving. Long time artist friend and collaborator Kngee and I painted one of my iconic elephant heads decorated with Kngee's pin striping designs. The project was documented in this coffee table book "Mom & Popism", and the physical installation was on view for the launch party, then traveled to Art Basel in Miami for an exhibit then back to NYC on display in office buildings around SOHO.
